Gun Phone Concept

Gun Phone Concept

Here’s a gun phone concept design that probably won’t become a reality, not that we can imagine why anybody would want one. A convergent device for the future, perhaps? Just remember not to hit the wrong button / trigger when you’re making a phone call.

Nokia 6208 Classic

Nokia 6208 Classic

Nokia’s 6208 Classic has rather rare phone design from Nokia, seeing that it has a physical keypad and a touchscreen all packed into a candybar form factor. The device will be powered by a tweaked version of the S40 interface. It hasn’t been officially confirmed just yet, but it’s been rumored that this phone will be available in China only, though we hope that the rumor isn’t true. Features of the 6208 Classic include:

* 2.8″ TFT touchscreen display at 16 million colors
* 240 x 320 resolution
* Quad band GSM connectivity with GPRS, EDGE
* 27MB internal memory
* microSD memory card support
* 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash

Transparent iPhone 3G Case

Some people love transparent cases, others loathe them, which one are you? Showing off the naked insides of your iPhone 3G will probably guarantee you a few curious (if not envious) stares from people nearby. If you’re the type that must be different, then this will probably be something to keep an eye out for.

Philips Xenium X710

The Philips Xenium X710 isn’t an iPhone-killer, but it does accept dual SIM cards, which could be essential to some people. Aside from the dual SIM card feature, the X710 doesn’t have any feature that would make it stand out from the crowd. Features of the Philips Xenium X710 include:

* Bluetooth connectivity
* Integrated FM radio
* microSD memory card slot
* 1900 mAh Li-Ion battery
* 2.4″ TFT display
* 20MB internal memory

LG KS660 Dual SIM Phone

Dual-SIM phones might not be plentiful, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t useful. Those of you who keep separate SIM cards for business and personal uses will definitely appreciate the LG KS660 that LG has just rolled out. The phone should be available in China and Russia in Q1 of 2009, though it probably won’t be hitting Europe of the US. Unfortunately, the KS660 lacks Wi-Fi and 3G, but if you’re ok with that, other features of the phone include:

* Tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (900/1800/1900 MHz)
* 3-inch WQVGA (240×400) TFT touch-screen display with feedback
* 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, flash, and video recording (720×480)
* 50MB internal memory
* microSDHC memory card slot
* Integrated accelerometer

Sony Ericsson T303 Daisy Edition

Some phones rely heavily on its features to sell itself, while some rely on the exterior design. Sony Ericsson’s T303 handset will definitely fall into the latter category, and it looks like Sony Ericsson is looking to boost its appeal by introducing a Daisy Edition of this entry-level slider phone. The phone will be available on T-Mobile UK for £49.99 as a Pay As You Go phone. Features of the T303 Daisy Edition include:

* Tri-band GSM/GPRS connectivity

Hugo Boss Samsung F480 For Christmas

Hugo Boss Samsung F480 For Christmas

Everybody looks like they’re trying to get into the cell phone scene nowadays, and next in line is Hugo Boss. Of course, Hugo Boss isn’t going to spend precious time and resources coming up with a whole new phone, so they’ve teamed up with Samsung to customize the F480 TouchWiz handset. The phone will be the same as the standard F480, keeping the original 5 megapixel camera, 2.8-inch touchscreen, and 3G/HSDPA. The difference will be the Hugo Boss branding, which will be visible on the icons, wallpapers and the phone cover, not to mention a collection of ringtones that supposedly “reflects Hugo Boss style”. You’ll also get a Hugo Boss styled Bluetooth headset along with the phone. To be honest, €479 is quite steep to pay for a phone that only has a few design changes, but if you’re into fashion, then you’ll probably be willing to pay for it. The phone should retail in Europe through Hugo Boss retail outlets in December and will be distributed via PhoneHouse/Carphone Warehouse online.

Sprint BlackBerry 8350i Live Shots

Sprint BlackBerry 8350i Live Shots

Users that are still stuck on an iDEN network will be happy to hear that pictures of Sprint’s BlackBerry 8350i have been spotted, thanks to Boy Genius, which probably means that we’ll be able to see the phone sooner rather than later. Unfortunately there are a couple of issues that aren’t too pleasant about the phone, such as the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack, instead it comes with the ever-irritating 2.5mm headphone jack. The PTT (push-to-talk) button can’t be reassigned to something else and apparently it doesn’t do very well in terms of signal strength, which is rather worrying. You might want to do some additional research on this phone and get user feedback before you decide to put your hard-earned cash on this phone.

iPhone 2.2 Firmware Slows 3G And Drains Batt

There is no official word on this just yet, but it appears that many users are complaining on online forums that the iPhone 2.2 firmware update that was just released has affected the 3G speeds on their iPhones by quite a bit. Some users have even taken the time to do a side-by-side comparison with other iPhones that have not been updated, and have confirmed that the speeds are vastly different. To make matters worse, there are also a few complaints that battery life has dropped significantly, with one user reporting that his battery life dropped from 36 hours to about 9 hours. Have you just updated to the 2.2 firmware? Drop us a comment to let us know how it’s going.

Porsche Racing and Porsche Design Cell Phones

Porsche Racing and Porsche Design Cell Phones 1

The Porsche concept phones below are a work in progress project, or so claims their creator, Mathew Zurlinden, who welcomes critique at this stage of the design. For starters, I have to say that I like the black version of this phone more, specially because its design is sleeker and it really has “racing” written all over it.

If I’m not mistaking, the device is a slider, the display must be a touchscreen and I’m guessing that the keypad is numeric… Can’t see the camera, does it feature one?

Benq Siemens Full Touchscreen Phone is So Finger Friendly

Benq Siemens Full Touchscreen Phone is So Finger Friendly1

The first thing you notice about this concept phone is that the Benq Siemens handset features a full touchscreen display that comes with a very user-friendly interface, which makes use of big icons and thumbnails. The specs are the usual ones, like camera, games and radio and what impressed me the most is the camera’s menu, which you can see in one of the pictures below.
