Nokia has announced its own version of an online application store in the form of the Ovi Store, which not only serves applications, but also content to S40 and S60 users. With the Ovi Store, it will be easier for developers to publish their work and it also makes it much easier for users to find relevant content on the Ovi Store. The first phone to support this service will be Nokia’s N97 (which will be available in June 2009). The Ovi Store will be going live in May 2009, which is just a few months away from now.

Sony Ericsson W995 Goes Official

Sony Ericsson certainly isn’t going to be pushed out of the megapixel race, and while the W995 phone is a Walkman phone, it packs an 8.1 megapixel camera, which is certainly respectable (if not impressive). Despite being a Walkman phone, Sony Ericsson boasts that the phone offers “best in class video and sharing capabilities to offer the most complete communication entertainment package to date”. The W995 Walkman should be available in selected markets in Q2 of 2009 and will have features such as:

* Media Go application for seamless transfer of data between platforms
* 8.1 megapixel camera with autofocus
* Photo flash and face detection
* Built-in stand
* Clear stereo and bass speakers
* Wi-Fi connectivity

Nokia E55 Goes Official At MWC

Nokia E55 Goes Official At MWC

At a glance, Nokia’s E55 is quite similar to the E75, though it’s much lighter due to the lack of the sideways-sliding QWERTY keyboard. Just because Nokia ditched the sideways-sliding keyboard doesn’t mean that there isn’t a QWERY keyboard for you, as Nokia has taken a form factor similar to the BlackBerry Pearl where there are 2 alphabetical letters on each key. The only downside of this phone is its relatively low resolution 320 x 240 screen, which only serves to make its 470 Euro price tag seem expensive. Aside from that, features of the device include:

* S60 Platform
* HSDPA, Wi-Fi b/g
* 116×49×9.9mm, 98g
* 28 days of battery life in stand-by mode (Nokia’s numbers)
* 2.4-inch display (320×240)
* 60MB of internal memory, 2GB micro-SD included (16GB max)
* 3.2 MP camera
* 3.5mm audio jack
* 2 Colors: White and Aluminum

Nokia 6710 Navigator At MWC 2009

“The navigation solution provided by the Nokia 6710 Navigator is second to none and provides everything you would expect from a dedicated GPS device with all the benefits of a converged mobile device,” says Markku Suomi, vice president at Nokia. The solution includes the latest developments in the Maps software with real time ‘drive and walk’ navigation, full regional maps and hardware elements like the dedicated navigator key, touch area for easy zooming and a large display optimized for outdoor viewing. “We want to make the experience as simple and effective as possible, which means the navigation licenses are pre-installed and ready to use as soon as you turn on the Navigator,” continues Suomi.

The recent integration of Maps with Ovi allows people to pre-plan their journey at home on their PC and synchronize with their mobile device. Additionally, Maps has been updated to include a number of new features such as high-resolution aerial images, 3D landmarks for over 200 cities, terrain maps, weather service, premium travel and events content and traffic and safety warnings. Included inbox is the Nokia CR-111 car holder, which cradles the Nokia 6710 Navigator easily in the car and completes the driving navigation solution.

Rumor: Nokia E75 On Expansys

Rumo Nokia E75 On Expansys

Pictures of Nokia E75 have been floating around for quite a while now, so to see it show up on Expansys isn’t that big a surprise. That being said, we appreciate it appearing on Expansys as it does give us some confirmation of its specifications, which include a 2.4-inch 320 x 240 QVGA display, quad-band GSM/EDGE and dual-band HSDPA, Wi-Fi, 3.2 megapixel camera and A-GPS. The E75 should be showing its face at MWC 2009

LG KM330 Announced

LG’s newly announced KM330 candybar phone won’t be taking the cell phone market by storm, but it might appeal to the many cell phone users out there who are looking for a new mid-range phone. * Tri-Band GSM 900/1800/1900 connectivity
* 2” 340 × 320 resolution 262k color display

Live Picture of Nokia E75

Live Picture of Nokia E75

The sideways-sliding QWERTY keyboard might be fairly common from manufactures such as HTC, but it certainly isn’t for Nokia. Fans of this form factor will be happy about the Nokia E75, which sports such a design. Pictures of said device had been leaked online quite a while ago, though now more pictures have surfaced, and we’re certainly not complaining. If the pictures are anything to go by, the phone sure looks ready for prime time, and hopefully we’ll be able to catch a glimpse of it at MWC 2009, which is just around the corner.

Samsung Acme i8910 picture

Samsung Acme i8910 picture

It certainly looks like Samsung has no intention of stopping all these leaks regarding its upcoming cell phones, unless Samsung thinks that it’s a great marketing strategy, and a bold one at that. Next up we’ve got the Samsung Acme i8910, which has pleasantly posed for pictures. The Samsung i8910 Acme should have features like a full touchscreen, 8-megapixel camera with HD video recording capability, GPS, Wi-Fi, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone is said to be available in 8 or 16GB variants.
