T-Mobile introduces Samsung Gravity 2

Posted by arm On August - 15 - 2009

Improving upon the Samsung Gravity that was released last November, the Korean manufacturer has now announced the availability of Gravity 2 (SGH-t469) on T-Mobile USA’s network. Like its predecessor, the Gravity 2 also sports a horizontal slide-out QWERTY keypad, although in a much slimmer body than the original. Being a messaging phone, you may not find much in there other than the QWERTY keypad, but you should know that it has a 2-megapixel camera with video recording, an mp3 player, and a microSD slot that supports 16GB cards. Still, if your life depended on messaging, you can take your pick between the t349, the Comeback, and the Gravity 2, which will be available next month at an undisclosed price and in a choice of berry mauve and metallic pumpkin

HTC Click the Cheapest Android?

Posted by arm On August - 14 - 2009

We’ve just told you about the full specs of HTC Leo, and now we’re going to talk a bit about another Taiwan-made handset: the HTC Click.

As mentioned before, HTC Click will be a low-cost Android smartphone.

Two live pictures of it have appeared at the French website PointGPhone, so we can see that the Click looks like a smaller HTC Magic (already available for purchase in Europe).

Most of the features included by HTC into the Click are not known, but it seems that the smartphone has a 3.5mm headset jack and a photo camera (well, that’s not a surprise).

Details about the release date and price of HTC Click are not available, but they’ll probably appear soon

Sony Ericsson “Rachel” is the XPERIA X3, Specs leaked

Posted by arm On August - 13 - 2009

Remember the Sony Ericsson Rachael – SE’s first Android smartphone? Its official name might be Sony Ericsson Xperia X3, and not Xperia X5, as we previously guessed.

A few weeks ago, when the first images of Rachael were leaked, we didn’t know too much about its features.

But now, thanks to the online retailer Expansys, we have an almost complete list of its specs.

The 8MP camera we already knew about is obviously confirmed, coming with autofocus, image stabilization, face detection, smile shutter, LED flash and VGA video recording.

The rest of the smartphone’s specs reportedly include:

* Quad-band GSM connectivity (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
* Dual-band 3G (900/2100 MHz) with HSDPA 10Mbps and HSUPA 2Mbps
* 4 inches touchscreen display with 800 x 400 pixels
* Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11g
* A-GPS
* Bluetooth 2.1
* 3.5mm audio jack
* E-mail (POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, MS Exchange)
* MiniUSB
* MicroSDHC card support

Sony Ericsson could announce the Rachael X3 soon – perhaps the same time with the Xperia X2 (which we saw a few hours ago in new live pictures).

If you’re anxious to get a new BlackBerry Curve 8520 from T-Mobile USA, it looks like you’ll be able to do so starting August 5.

According to BlackBerry Rocks, T-Mo will launch the 8520 (also known as BlackBerry Gemini) on this date via retail stores, RPS and Wallmart. The smartphone will also be available to employees and for upgrades.

Replacing the Curve 8320, the new Curve 8520 is the first BlackBerry device to come with optical trackpad navigation instead of the traditional trackball. It also features a full QWERTY keyboard (obviously), Wi-Fi, GSM/EDGE connectivity, a 2MP camera and access to BlackBerry App World.

The price of T-Mobile’s BlackBerry Curve 8520 is not known yet. Let’s hope it won’t be a high one on contract.

Motorola A45 Murano

Posted by arm On August - 8 - 2009

We haven’t gotten to see too many A series cellphones from Motorola, except for the A455, which was released last month on Verizon Wireless. We now have news of a new handset in that segment, the A45 Murano, which surfaced on a Brazilian website recently. We don’t have many details on this pudgy guy as of now, but what we do know is that the A45 is a non-3G, QWERTY-toting (pretty obvious from the picture of course) messaging phone, that should feel right at home among Motorola’s other low-end messaging phones such as the QA1 or even the A455. There is also a 2-megapixel camera tucked in, but that’s all the dirt we have on this new entrant. We will get you the info on it as it emerges, so don’t go nowhere!
