The Samsung Jet Ultra Edition is an enigmatic handset, which has been popular for a long time. The latest White colour variant of the phone provides a new alternative for those who are looking for an impressively functional handset with a style that is second to none. The Jet Ultra is compact at only 108 mm x 53 mm wide and is 11 mm thick which makes it somewhat slim line.
The Samsung Jet White provides an impressive 3.1 inch AMOLED touch screen, which offers imagery of outstanding clarity and vibrancy due to the its 16 million display capabilities. The screen operates within the confines of a 480 x 800 pixel screen size and incorporates the touchWiz version 2.0 user interface as its primary means of navigation around the functionality. The inclusion of both proximity and accelerometer sensors, provides the means to automate tasks such as automatic shut off when the phone is not in use as well as orientation of imagery dependent upon the aspect of the handset.

The Samsung Jet includes a phone book as well as a photo call capabilities and also includes 2 GB of internal memory. This can be further supplemented by making use of the integrated microSD card slot, which allows the user to utilise cards and increase memory capacity up to 16 GB.Connectivity is provided by a variety of options, which include class 12l versions of GPRS and EDGE as well as Wi Fi and HSDPA connectivity for internet access. Version 2.1 of blue tooth is included as well as a microUSB connection. The unit provides a useful speakerphone, which makes use of Samsung’s digital natural sound engine and includes virtual 5.1 channel Dolby surround sound. In addition a 3.5 mm audio jack is included for headset utilisation.
A 5.0 megapixel camera is provided which comes with a myriad of options to aid picture taking, these include auto focus, an LED flash, face, smile and blink detection as well as incorporating a wide dynamic range for effective photo taking. The Samsung Jet White is the latest colour variant to be brought out by Samsung, which enhances the options available within the range which also includes a Chrome and funky Lilac coloured edition. This handset is a popular phone for all the right reasons, it incorporates an impressive level of technology all of which is useful and endearing and as such, is simple to use.

It wasn’t too long since Samsung announced the Jet 2, which looked exactly like the original. Well, Samsung’s at it again, as they just recently announced the Jet Ultra edition. What makes it so Ultra, you ask? Not a lot. The Jet Ultra edition is the exact same phone that’s been available for Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) for some time now, give or take like, two features. Oh, you barely remember the original Jet either? It’s ok, we don’t blame you.
So here’s a refresher course on the Jet (and Ultra edition). It packs a 3.1-inch  (800×480 resolution)  inch AMOLED display for great picture and color saturation quality. Another nifty feature of AMOLED? It’s rendered almost unreadable in direct sunlight. My biggest gripe about the Nexus One. Other features of the Jet include and 800 Mhz processor, TouchWiz 2.0, with that adorable, love it or hate it 3D cube interface for your media. DVD like video playback and recording, as well as a 5-megapixel camera with smile detection software, and a dual LED flash.
Accompanied by a WiFi receiver, FM radio, microSD card slot expandable to 16 gigs, and Java games, you’ve got a pretty decent mid-ranged smartphone. Specs don’t necessarily read like a dream, but still not much to complain about either. So, is it enough to actually want to have in your pocket everyday? For some, sure. But in a world of iPhones, Nexus One’s, and Palm Pre Pluses, this may not the one to run out for.
The one difference that’s been pointed out with the Jet Ultra edition is that it has the BBC iPlayer added to it. Whoo-hoo? The Samsung Jet Ultra edition is also black with a sort of silver band on the front of it. Way to keep up with innovation Samsung, this is a real hook, line, and sinker you’ve brought to the public. Sorry Samsung, please do everyone a favor a lethally inject TouchWiz.

Carphone Warehouse is enticing its affiliates with the Samsung Jet Ultra Incentive wherein two lucky affiliates who generate the most sales will win the “coming soon” phone.
Of course, not much is known about the Samsung Jet Ultra Edition since if you do a google search, you’ll get the old Samsung Jet results results. And it seems that this Samsung Jet Ultra Edition has almost the same specs as the previous Samsung Jet: 3.1″ Amoled screen, 800Mhz processor, 5 megapixel camera with DVD like video recording, HSDPA, WiFi, Integrated Social Networking and Active Sync. Now the last feature seems to suggest that the Samsung Jet Ultra Edition will be a windows mobile phone because Active Sync is only available for WinMo phones.
But the thing is, the Samsung Jet and the Samsung Omnia 2 are like brothers but with different OS so why bother releasing a Samsung Jet Ultra Edition with Windows Mobile if the Samsung Omnia 2 is already in the wild? So maybe the Samsung Jet Ultra Edition will just have a more appealing design? Then again, it may also have a capacitive touchscreen to make it WinMo 7 ready.
