Posted by arm On June - 30 - 2010

LG and T-Mobile have just produced the LG Sentio phone, packing a 3 inch touchscreen, GPS and 3 megapixel camera. There’s also 3G support on board, plus a design that reminds us of HTC Magic, because of its simplicity.

There’s a social media client on the phone, used to control Facebook and Twitter, plus support for home screen widgets. Its specs list also includes visual voicemail, a microSD card slot, a 900 mAh battery (that provides 6 hours of talk time and 16 days of standby), plus video capture.

You can buy the LG Sentio from the online store.

Posted by arm On June - 30 - 2010

Sony Ericsson has announced many pink handsets over the years. The company’s latest phone to be launched in this girly color is the Sony Ericsson Vivaz – it is the fifth color of this model, after Silver Moon, Cosmic Black, Galaxy Blue and Venus Ruby.

The Vivaz, which will probably be launched by AT&T in the US soon, is one of Sony Ericsson’s latest Symbian smartphones.

Its features – if you don’t know them yet – include a 3.2 inch touchscreen display with 360 x 640 pixels, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, Google Maps, Facebook and Twitter integration, QuickOffice document reader, and an 8MP camera wtih HD video recording.

We don’t know still when or where exactly the pink SE Vivaz will be produced, and neither for it’s price. I guess you’ll find it in most of the markets where the other color versions have been released.

Sprint Rolling Out HTC EVO 4G OTA Update

Posted by arm On June - 30 - 2010

Sprint’s version of the HTC EVO 4G has a bunch of issues to deal with right now, but  as they’ll be solved by the OTA update coming next week. This over the air software upgrade brings fixes to the bugs on the phone, including WiFi fixes, meaning that the smartphone will support WiFi N among others.

Better battery management is also on the list, together with better Exchange email support, but what EVO users really want is Froyo, that will come later (weeks or months). HTC EVO 4G might be a pretty cool smartphone, but it’s plagued by a bunch of issues, not necessarily hardware or software, but rather the fact that Sprint’s 4G coverage doesn’t cover that much of an area.

Motorola Charm Headed To T-Mobile

Posted by arm On June - 29 - 2010

Motorola is willing to take chances when creating new and original smartphones, as proved by the CLIQ cell phone and now by the freshly leaked Moto Charm. The phone comes with an unique form factor, reminding us of a BlackBerry, although this is an Android handset we’re talking about.

Charm relies on the candybar styling apparently taken from T-Mobile training materials. The new Moto unit runs Android 2.1 and uses an upgraded MOTOBLUR with scalable widgets, just like Droid X. Facebook and Twitter are well integrated and there’s also a textured keyboard in the mix, which is pretty much all we know specs-wise.

We expect Motorola Charm to be a mid-end mainstream Android device, with a pretty reasonable price, available on T-Mobile.

Sadly there are no specific details in relation to the exact launch but we shouldn’t imagine it being that far away. Sony Ericsson Vivaz Heading To AT&T

Posted by arm On June - 24 - 2010

Back in February, the FCC approved the Sony Ericsson Vivaz, and we assumed that the smartphone could hit the US via AT&T.

The SE Vivaz runs Symbian S60 5th Edition (aka Symbian^1), and even if you’re not too fond of this OS, you should know that the phone has a 8.1MP autofocus camera and HD (720p) video recording. Other features include a 360 x 640 pixels scratch-resistant touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, DLNA, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, Facebook and Twitter integration, 8GB memory card preinstalled, and a 720MHz processor with PowerVR SGX graphics. Oh and the Vivaz doesn’t come with signal reception issues, like some iPhone 4s.

AT&T hasn’t announced anything regarding the Sony Ericsson Vivaz yet but the phone will probably be launched soon.

HTC Wildfire Now Available in the UK on Vodafone

Posted by arm On June - 24 - 2010

The HTC Wildfire is now available in the UK on the Vodafone network. Vodafone is the first network to offer the handset which is ready for ordering today.

Price wise you can pick one up for free on just a £20/month contract. This is a 24 month contract and you do get a decent amount of minutes, text and data as well. With this particular plan you get 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.

The £25 and £30/month contracts also of course have the smartphone for free, but the more you pay for the plan, the more free minutes you get. Data however, stays restricted to 500MB.

The 18 month contracts are practically the same as the 24 month plans with the HTC Wildfire being free on the cheapest plan although the cheapest plan is £25/month rather than £20/month. Basically you add an extra £5/month to drop to an 18 month tariff.

Overall, some pretty good prices there although the data lacks a little. However, most consumers don’t use 500MB/month, so for those it wont be a problem.

Samsung Wave 2 coming to UK in August?

Posted by arm On June - 23 - 2010

If you are a Samsung lover and would like use the Samsung Wave 2 in the United Kingdom there is a possibility the device just might be heading this way in August.

Originally the Samsung Wave 2 slider phone was tipped to only alunch in South East Asia and Russia; however, they have received confirmation from Justin Hong, Samsung’s lead on the Bada platform that Sammy wants the phone in the UK.

Unfortunately Samsung didn’t confirm an exact release date for a UK launch of the Samsung Wave 2 as apparently this still “depends on operators.” However Sammy did confirm they will continue upgrading Bada and push out new low cost devices to the UK.

The director of Samsung Mobile UK, Paul Wilkens has said, “One of the great things about the Bada platform is it’s so configurable. We can apply it to the high end Wave, or to the cheaper Wave 2 Pro; we can apply it to 2 CPU and 1 CPU devices – other platforms cannot drill down to so many types of phones.”
