When U.S. Cellular announced the Samsung Acclaim r880 slider phone, no one knew what the phone would look like. A couple of weeks later, Google presented the phone during its I/O conference, although without showing its sliding QWERTY keyboard.
Luckily, thanks to Samsung, we can now see the Acclaim’s keyboard – and it’s quite an interesting one, with four keys on the left side painted in the same color as the directional keys, seemingly for gaming-related reasons.
QWERTY keyboard aside, the Acclaim should feature Android 2.1, a 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Google services, 3MP camera, and memory expansion slot. As you can see, the handset is totally not like the Samsung Galaxy S, but messaging-hungry owners on a budget will probably find it perfect.
U.S. Cellular (which will also launch the HTC Desire later this year) has previously stated that the Samsung Acclaim would be available starting July.
