Google and Samsung have joined forces to build a new smartphone known as the Samsung Galaxy S2 , Nexus S and Nexus Two running Android OS.
The buzzes are focusing on four things: that the device will have Android 2.3 on board, or possibly even 3.0; it will be unveiled at Samsung’s November 8 event; it will be released through the Carphone Warehouse in the UK; and the smartphone will be here in time for Christmas.
Rumors that the new mobile device may be called the Samsung or Google Nexus Two have come as a surprise since Google previously announced it would not be releasing any more Nexus mobile phones, apart from the odd developer device.
Nevertheless Gizmodo says a source has reportedly seen the Nexus Two, or Nexus S, with claims it’s similar to the current Galaxy S but with some expected improvements.
These rumours claimed the Samsung Galaxy S2 would have a 2GHz processor and Android 3.0. Since neither the hardware nor software is likely to ready for release to the public in the next few months, it seems this isn’t the S2 or it’s an early version of the phone rushed out to try and keep ahead of the competition.
Possible contradictions to the latest news come in the form of previous statements from Google and manufacturers that Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) will not be on cell phones in mobile market until early 2011 and that Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) is likely to land later and on tablets.
The fact that Google had said it will not make any more smartphones indicate that the name will be the Samsung Galaxy S2 or the Samsung Galaxy S with Google like the LG Optimus One with Google. And like the latter it may be the operating system will be designed solely by Google.
