Facebook has commenced a fresh mobile app, but this one isn’t for smartphones. Facebook for Feature Phones is beleaguered at lower-end phones, working on in excess of 2,500 devices. The business worked with mobile firm Snaptu on the app, provides a better Facebook experience for our most popular features, including an easier-to-navigate home screen, contact synchronization, and fast scrolling of photos and friend updates. The app is primarily being made accessible through nine mobile operators, generally in promising markets. Five more will follow soon. Why launch with carriers? Facebook has agreed deals with the operators to offer free data access to punters of the app, at least for the first 90 days after launch. Facebook says it’s looking to make the app accessible through more operators in the coming months.
