Lamborghini Spyder Smartphone Concept Gadget

Posted by arm On January - 4 - 2011

A smartphone bearing the brand of supercar manufacturer Lamborghini has been launched in Hong Kong, bringing all of the pomp and circumstance across from the race track and to the palm of your hand. The Lamborghini Spyder smartphone is set to retail for around £1100 for the basic model, although there are costlier models which bring the price point even further out of reach to the general public.

Though it is very expensive Lamborghini smartphone is a little light on high end specs. The 2.2 inch display is a real minnow compared to the four inch plus devices regularly showcased by mobile providers such as HTC and Samsung. The smartphone’s three megapixel camera and four gigs of onboard storage mean that the specs are roughly on par with a mid range Nokia agdget.

There is an option to have crocodile skin stitched onto the rear of the phone, which is definitely a step up from the plastic and metal usually found on various mobile devices. The display case in which the concept phone is shipped is another work of boutique opulence – it is finished in steel and has pneumatic arms to hold the lid.

The newest Which? survey concerning mobile handset expenditure which questioned 1271 adults aged 16 or over has shown that we in the UK are prone to spending too much with contract packages.

According to Which?, 10 million users in the UK overpay for their mobile phones, claiming that we are paying extra on extra texts, call-time, and data allowance because of going over the monthly allowance from network providers.

The results that Which? claim are “not surprising” have also revealed that over 6 million consumers have no idea that they are reaching or have exceeded monthly limit for call minutes and 5 million didn’t know about their text and data allowance limits.

The survey also showed that we don’t tend to look around for the best deals or are frightened of change as the survey revealed that 18 million users have never even switched mobile providers.

Tom McLennan, head of Which? said that, “You could be spending hundreds of pounds more than you need to on your mobile every year if you’re not on the right tariff.”

McLennan also recommended that consumers who are going over their limits should amend their bills and search for better tariffs to suit their phoning and texting needs.

However, McLennan also claimed that the opposite circumstances was also true, that “If you never go over your agreed line rental, it’s because you’re not using up your allowance so you may be able to save money by finding a cheaper tariff that reflects your usage.”

Sony Ericsson Hallon appears in spy shots – Anzu too?

Posted by arm On January - 2 - 2011

You remember a few days ago when it was announced that Sony Ericsson was planning two new gasgets – the Hallon and the Anzu? Well, spy shots have emerged of handsets that looks astonishingly like at least one of them.

The first is the Hallon, and fits perfectly with the information our well-placed source gave us – it’s a Sony Ericsson Vivaz rebooted with enhanced hardware (ie a capacitive screen) and Android 2.3.

The top of the handset houses the microUSB slot as well as a bowed exterior, mimicking the ‘human curvature’ design of the Vivaz, so it’s almost certain we’ll be seeing this at Mobile World Congress.

The next cell phone was snapped in China, and while we’re waiting for the Anzu to rear its head, it’s improbable that this is the one given the smaller screen.

The mystery device has been tipped to come with a 3-inch screen – much slighter than the Anzu’s reported 4-inch effort, and also comes with a superb graphic processing and benchmark score – is this a PSP Phone sidekick?

Given Sony Ericsson looks likely to be opening an Android gaming portal called Xperia Play that seems a real possibility – roll on MWC when all these mysteries should be exposed.
