Adobe is doing his best for Smartphones

Posted by arm On February - 15 - 2011

Software Company Adobe has acknowledged that a significant work has to be done in enhancing Flash experience on mobile phones. The company also said that more than 20 million cell phones are capable of running Adobe Flash apps. Anup Murarka, technical marketing director of Adobe said that in the first half of the current year nearly 40 Flash enabled smartphones are expected to be shipped. Notably support for Flash is important while browsing web and watching HD videos.

At present, phones running on Android 2.2 OS or higher with ARM Cortex-A8 processor support Adobe Flash. In future it is expected that Adobe Flash will also run on phones using the Windows Phone and HP Web OS. It is to be noted that at present Flash does not run on Apple’s iOS.

Meanwhile Murarka added that the new Flash 10.2 will enhance performance of the phones and a new technology called Stage Video will be included in the release of Honeycomb and BlackBerry Playbook. Through Stage Video, a flash video will be directed to the GPU of a device rather than the CPU. Speaking on the arrival of 3D API’s and 3D rendering engine, Murarka said that the things will be integrated in Flash later this year. With Adobe making giant plans for Flash, smartphone users have a reason to rejoice.
