Posted by arm On March - 18 - 2011

Playbook is RIM’s newly-announced,magazine-sized tablet PC. The company’s been known more forwork than play to date, but that wouldn’t make for such a good product name. Working models have not yet been spotted in the wild but some properly iPad-beating features are promised. The Playbook will run all existing BlackBerry apps and also utilise a brand new tablet OS – read How To Play for more on that. You can sync the Playbook with your existing BlackBerry handset to playfi les stored on it on the Playbook’s seven-inch screen. There’s also HDMI for playing HD videos on your TV. Finally, both 3G and 4G versions are also mooted

1. WEB SUPPORT – The Playbook supports Adobe Flash 10.1, Mobile AIR and HTML5, meaning you’ll be able to play all content on the web without any of the iPad’s compatibility issues

2. SMALLER AND LIGHTER – The Playbook weighs just 400g, compared to the iPad’s 680g. The flipside of that is that the screen is only seven inches across, against the iPad’s 9.7 inches of IPS LCD

3. CAMERAS – There are two cameras – that’s two more than the iPad. There’s a fivemegapixel cam on the back and a three-meg front-facing one for video conferencing, blogging etc

4. SYNCING – There are 3G and 4G versions coming soon, but until then you can get onto the 3G network by syncing the Playbook with your BlackBerry phone’s 3G. Beware of charges
