RIM BlackPad to arrive in November?

Posted by arm On August - 9 - 2010

RIM is still rumoured to be working on the BlackPad. We heard a week ago that the device was to get a 9.7 inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, WiFi as well as cameras on the front and back.

We now know that Quanta will be manufacturing the tablet and that they will be building two million units in September in preparation for a sale in November.

Price wise, the tablet is also rumoured to be starting at $499. When we say starting, it isn’t clear at the moment if several models will be launched like Apple [AAPL] did with the iPad, or if RIM will just stick to the one model.

Posted by arm On August - 3 - 2010

RIM is sure to be launching a tablet device called the BlackPad. This rumour was recently strengthened by RIM purchasing the BlackPad.com domain name which further increased rumours about the new device.

We now hear that RIM will be launching the BlackPad in November. This comes from Bloomberg who cited two people close to RIM.

As for what the BlackPad will do. We hear it wont actually be a tablet that is fully internet connected and instead, it seems to be more like a companion device that works alongside a BlackBerry allowing you to check emails and browse the net on a larger screen.

As soon as we hear more about this we’ll let you instantly. Be patient please…

Although it’s not May 28th yet, consumers who bought an iPad and got it earlier will get the chance to use localized iPad App Stores one week early than the tablet’s launch. However, these people will have to repurchase the apps that they bought using the US iTunes Store and even lose some of the software for good.

We remind you that Apple postponed the international launch of the iPad till May 28th, the date when the first batch of iPads hits the UK. The second wave will be available on June 7th and before this happens you can get the apps you need from the iPad App Store, while the iBooks bookstore is still unavailable internationally.

Meanwhile, grey market iPads will have a problem with the apps purchased from the US iTunes Store via workarounds, as the users will be forced to use their local stores.
