Sony Ericsson is introducing already-launched devices with multiple colors to choose from. This time we are talking about Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro. Originally, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini appears in black, pearl white, lime, red, pink, silver while Xperia X10 Mini Pro appears in black, pearl white, and red. Adding as the seventh colors, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini is now available in Gold color.

The Gold Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini is eye catching and pretty device. It seems glamorous and extravagant. On the other hand, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro maintain a complete different look with a pink color. It looks sassy and girlish.

The two new colors will be available soon but there are no confirmation on the exact date. On the downside, two devices is still running on Android 1.6 but an update Android 2.1 is coming soon for theese smartphones.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro on sale now at O2 U.K

Posted by arm On August - 1 - 2010

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro Android-powered smartphone has been available in the UK on Vodafone for some weeks.

And now O2 have stepped in and are offering the little device on bundles starting at £25/month.

O2 are heavily promoting the Google Maps free Navigation for this phone, which is cool and all that, but not really a differentiating feature for this puppy, since all Android phones in the UK get that service anyway.

The thing about the pricing is that Vodafone offer the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro from £20/month, so O2′s isn’t exactly the best deal in town. And we’re talking 2-year contracts here, so that’s a full 120 quid more expensive over the life of the agreement.

Anyway, if O2 is your network of choice and you’ve been eyeing the X10 Mini Pro, you can be happy now. This is an interesting slider device, in a niche of its own, being so small but still managing to pack a QWERTY keyboard. Texting and email fanatics who don’t much care for enormous displays will surely love it.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz now available in Pink

Posted by arm On June - 30 - 2010

Sony Ericsson has announced many pink handsets over the years. The company’s latest phone to be launched in this girly color is the Sony Ericsson Vivaz – it is the fifth color of this model, after Silver Moon, Cosmic Black, Galaxy Blue and Venus Ruby.

The Vivaz, which will probably be launched by AT&T in the US soon, is one of Sony Ericsson’s latest Symbian smartphones.

Its features – if you don’t know them yet – include a 3.2 inch touchscreen display with 360 x 640 pixels, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, Google Maps, Facebook and Twitter integration, QuickOffice document reader, and an 8MP camera wtih HD video recording.

We don’t know still when or where exactly the pink SE Vivaz will be produced, and neither for it’s price. I guess you’ll find it in most of the markets where the other color versions have been released.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz Heading To AT&T

Posted by arm On June - 24 - 2010

Back in February, the FCC approved the Sony Ericsson Vivaz, and we assumed that the smartphone could hit the US via AT&T.

The SE Vivaz runs Symbian S60 5th Edition (aka Symbian^1), and even if you’re not too fond of this OS, you should know that the phone has a 8.1MP autofocus camera and HD (720p) video recording. Other features include a 360 x 640 pixels scratch-resistant touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, DLNA, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, Facebook and Twitter integration, 8GB memory card preinstalled, and a 720MHz processor with PowerVR SGX graphics. Oh and the Vivaz doesn’t come with signal reception issues, like some iPhone 4s.

AT&T hasn’t announced anything regarding the Sony Ericsson Vivaz yet but the phone will probably be launched soon.

Sony Ericsson Cedar

Posted by arm On June - 16 - 2010

A conventional, lightweight and affordable 3.5G handset, the Sony Ericsson Cedar forms part of Sony Ericsson’s “GreenHeart” range of more environmentally responsible phones. In terms of specification, the Cedar is almost identical to the Naite that came out last year. We would expect the Cedar to come in at a similar price. There’s a 2.2″ 240 x 320 pixel display on the front, a 2 megapixel camera on the back, support for HSDPA data, there’s an FM radio and microSD slot and a multimedia player. Of note is that the video capture quality is quoted as being VGA resolution at 30 frames per second, which is pretty decent for a low cost phone and is certainly good enough for YouTube. You can use the Cedar as a cellular modem too, which should appeal to business customers.

One interesting feature is the ability to import contacts directly from an S40 or S60 phone via the memory card, which we suppose is an attempt to woo Nokia users. The Cedar uses recycled plastics, has a waterborne paint, low power charger and comes in reduced packaging, and we have to say that its “green” credentials are perhaps the only real reason why someone would choose this over the Nokia C5 or other similar handsets. Otherwise, the Cedar is quite dull and lacks the sexiness of the Xperia range of touchscreen devices. Sony Ericsson say that the Cedar should be available during Q3 2010 in black/silver and black/red colour combinations.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X8

Posted by arm On June - 16 - 2010

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 is a cheaper and simpler alternative device to the existing high-end Xperia X10. This 104 gram Android handset  sports a 3″ 320 x 480 pixel touchscreen display, it comes with GPS, WiFi and 3.5G support, plus an FM radio and a microSD slot (with a 2GB card included in the standard sales package). There is a 3.2 megapixel camera on the back  of the phone  which is capable of video recording. Inside is a competitive 600MHz processor with 128MB of RAM which should cope with almost anything you throw at it, although it’s not as fast as the processors found in top-of-the-line Android mobile phones. There’s a decently large battery too, powering the X8 for up to 5 hours 40 minutes talktime on 3G.

Early adopters of the X8 will have to make do with Android 1.6 as an operating system, but this will be upgradable very soon to Android 2.1. Later shipments will have Android 2.1 preinstalled…. if this kind of thing is important to you then check before ordering. The software is highly expandable, as this is an Android phone and the Android Market is stuffed full of a very wide range of applications. In addition, Sony Ericsson have bundled the Xperia X8 with a trial version of their Wisepilot navigation system, although many users will prefer to use the new turn-by-turn navigation built into Google Maps.

Our experience with the bigger Xperia X10 is that it is a very nice smartphone, but it falls down a lot on call quality. Hopefully, Sony Ericsson’s second attempt at an Android handset will sort out some of those annoyances. This is a nice looking cell phone which is a lot more pocket-friendly than the X10, the price tag looks good too. Sony Ericsson say that the Xperia X8 should be available from Q3 onwards in White, Dark Blue/White, Aqua Blue/White, Pink/White and Silver/White colour combinations.

Skype Now Available on Sony Ericsson Symbian Phones

Posted by arm On June - 15 - 2010

Skype used to be restricted to the PC, but as the mobile revolution continues forth, it expanded to fit the need of millions of users out there. While Verizon Wireless here in the States has a lock-down on the VoIP service for its own mobilwe devices, it seems Sony Ericsson has managed to coerce the big-wigs over at Skype that they should put their service on some Symbian phones. And, sure enough, it’s happening now. If you’ve got a Symbian-powered Sony Ericsson handset, such as the Vivaz Pro, Vivaz, and Satio, then you’re eligible to get the application free on your mobile ohone. That’s right. Free! Which, of course, brings you the ability to make free calls to other Skype users, or make really cheap calls to landlines all over the planet. Additionally, you can send free instant messages to other Skype users, right from the Skype application. Best of all, it works on WiFi and your 3G network. One word of caution: you’ll want to have something akin to an unlimited data plan, for sure. Using Skype, for both calls and messages, will eat up your data like nobody’s business. So, keep an eye on it. If you’ve got unlimited, or enough that you consider it unlimited, then by all means, use it to your heart’s content.

Sony Ericsson has just announced that the XPERIA X10 mini and Vivaz Pro handsets are shipping and they’re ready to hit the stores. The X10 mini is already selling on a couple of markets internationally and in some places the gadjet is available via carriers, but you can also get it unlocked, for a bigger price.

Vivaz Pro is a Symbian S60-based cell phone, that’s only now shipping to retailers worldwide. The X10 mini and Vivaz Pro were both announced during Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona, with the most appealing model being the latter, as it features a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard and runs Symbian.

The X10 mini is also interesting, specially if you want the functionality of the XPERIA X10 is a smaller package.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro

Posted by arm On March - 19 - 2010

Sony Ericsson had revealed their upcoming “miniature” android smartphones, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 mini and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini pro nearly a month ago at the MWC 2010. They both come with 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and geotagging, 3G connectivity, 600 MHz processor and SE’s own Mediascape and Timescape apps along with their “Rachel” UI.When these miniature devices came out, many expected them to come with budget pricetags, but it seems SE had quite something else in mind. Of course, these are the unlocked prices, and they are sure to cost much lesser when subsidized by a carrier. The XPERIA X10 Mini is expected to release in Belgium and France by the end of May and the X10 Mini Pro is to release in the same region by June.

Just over a month ago, we got the official announcement from Sony Ericsson that the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro did indeed exist. And today, we’ve got word on what they’re going to cost when they hit the storefronts over on the European shores. These are the unlocked prices, which we imagine that most users are concerned with. The X10 Mini is scheduled to release in Belgium and France by the end of May, while the X10 Mini Pro is meant to see the same region in June. The only real differences between the two devices is the Pro’s physical, slide-out keyboard. Other than that, they’re both rocking a 600MHz processor, the Sony Ericsson created “Rachael” User Interface over-top the Android OS , and a 5MP camera. They’re the tiniest of smartphones, we’d bet.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10, the first Android-based mobile phone the Japanese-Swedish phone maker is set to bring to the market, has just been officially produced. Available starting the first quarter of the next year, the new phone is designed to deliver great communications and entertainment features to owners, while also coming with great looks and an attractive UX. The handset has made headlines many times before, when it was known as the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X3 or Rachael, and we’ve already seen a series of specifications on it, only that now they are all official. When available on meny markets around the world in Q1 2010 , the phone will bring along powerful hardware, as well as appealing capabilities.

The specs list of XPERIA X10 includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor clocked in at 1GHz, 4.0-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 480 x 854 pixel resolution (WVGA), support for 262,144 colors and is scratch resistant, and 8.1-megapixel photo snapper with Auto focus, face recognition, Geo tagging, Smile detection, and Video recording capabilities, and support for UMTS HSPA 900/1700/2100 and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 (UMTS HSPA 800/1900/2100 and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900) network frequencies.

In addition, the handset will have Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) capabilities, Wi-Fi connectivity, Micro USB connector, A-GPS (with support for Google Maps), 3.5 mm audio jack, 1 GB of internal memory, microSD memory card slot with an 8GB card included in the package, Speakerphone, WebKit web browser, Media player and Google search capabilities, as well as Google Android 1.6 operating system (Donut), Gesture control, support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, MMS, SMS and email, Video streaming and Auto rotate.

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 measures 119 x 63 x 13 mm and weighs 135 grams. It will come to the market in two color versions, Sensuous Black and Luster White, and will have a wide range of preloaded applications, such as Sony Ericsson Timescape, Sony Ericsson Mediascape, Sony Ericsson Home with clock widget, Sony Ericsson Sync, Android Market Client, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps with Street View, Google Media Uploader, Google phone-top search, Google search widget, Google Talk, Google Voice Search, Network Location Provider, Set-up Wizard, and YouTube.
