Sony Ericsson W570 Concept Phone, Colourful Device for a Depressing Autumn

Designed by ChefZX from mobile-review, the Sony Ericsson W570 concept is a pretty hot Walkman device, although a bit thick. Depending on the colour of its sliding piece, it’ll light up in green, blue, orange or mauve.

I have to say that this is quite a long handset, with the usual side volume control buttons, play/pause key beneath the screen and comfortable numeric keypad.

Sony Ericsson Kate Could be C912, Features Multitasking

Sony Ericsson Kate is said to be the follow-up to the K750, but one that will very much appeal to CyberShot fans. In case you think that the device is all about a top camera and hot photo features, turns out that if features multitasking, a rare trait of modern handsets.

Add varied connectivity options and a CyberShot camera in the mix and we’ve got a hit… (might be the Sony Ericsson C912, not 100% sure though).

Kate’s specs include a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and a Xenon flash, touch-sensitive camera keys, Java and a pretty big display (bigger than C902). As for connectivity, the handset supports HSDPA and quad-band GSM/EDGE, while the pricing and availability are mysteries for now, but rumours say that it’ll be announced this month.

Sony Ericsson Smartphone for Snowboarders, Operate it With Gloves!_1

This must be the most original handset I’ve seen lately and talk about niche public segment! Well, this Sony Ericsson concept phone, designed by Christine Park is a product for snowboarders, as it can be used with your gloves on with the aid of its rotating segments. Want to access the features of the device?

Start twisting this handset’s mechanism and you’ll scroll through different menu options with the aid of “knobs”, as the designer calls them.

There’s also a large button to push in order to make your selection and the only problem I can see in the case of this concept is the long twisting you’ll have to do in order to reach the needed options plus the fact that those knobs will grow loose in time and start malfunctioning.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X5 Photoshop Concept

We’ve seen the XPERIA X5 before, but never so beautiful and so uber-filled with hot features… This time we’re dealing with a smartphone designed by Exilim from Esato and what a smartphone this is! Let me begin with the shocking specs: a Qualcomm MSM7200 850 MHz processor, 512 MB RAM and 40 GB internal memory…

Plus, there are 2 displays to toy with: a front TFT touchscreen (65k colors, 800 x 480) and a slideout one, TFT touchscreen as well (65 k colors, 800 x 240).

We mustn’t forget the full touch QWERTY keyboard/game controls and the classic 3G HSDPA connectivity, accompanied by Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, GPS, A-GPS and an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus, image stabiliser and Xenon flash. The battery is incredible too, lasting 833 hours in standby mode and up to 10 hours if you’re a chatter.

The coming Xperia devices may not use Windows Mobile

Apparently Sony Ericsson Xperia is not set to be exclusive with the Microsoft’s Windows Mobile platform. Will the future Xperia devices use Symbian or Android platform? Unfortunately, the joint venture of Japan’s Sony and Sweden’s Ericsson was reluctant to reveal any details.

Today, a Sony Ericsson executive commented that devices released under the Xperia brand in the future may not run the Windows Mobile platform. The Xperia X1, Sony Ericsson’s first Windows Mobile smartphone, is set to launch in Europe later this month. Magnus Andersson, product manager for the X1, said that the Xperia brand is “not married” to any one technical platform. Sony Ericsson has mentioned that it plans to offer a range of devices under the Xperia brand, with the X1 launching first.
